Bone and Joint Support Formulas
Abstract
One of the most common negative age-related physical conditions reported by
seniors are problems associated with the bones and joints. According to The
Arthritis Foundation, nearly 66 million adults ( or 1 in 3) suffer from a
form of arthritis or chronic joint symptoms. Arthritis is one of the most
prevalent chronic health conditions among adults over the age of 15.
For those living with the pain of OA, there are additional alternative approaches—in addition to adopting a healthy diet and exercise routine—one can take to support joint health and mobility. One such approach is dietary supplementation with essential elements and beneficial nutrients.
In formulating our line of comprehensive osteo-health formulas, MRI has adopted a four-tier (targeted nutritional factors, bioactive elements, synergistic/supportive herbs, food enzymes) nutritional approach to help support bone and joint health.
The first tier provides optimal potencies of beneficial nutrients to support a healthy joint structure in two ways. First, these nutrients—glucosamine and chondroitin—can supply nutritional components to help nourish and strengthen cartilage. Glucosamine (composed of glucose, nitrogen, and hydrogen) is needed by the body to form glycosaminoglycans, proteins that bind water to cartilage, thereby increasing elasticity and resiliency. Chondroitin attracts fluid into proteoglycan molecules, which acts as a shock absorber and delivers nutrients to cartilage. Supplementation with specific nutrients can help address certain nutritional factors involved in ongoing damage to cartilage.
The second tier of MRI’s line of comprehensive osteo-health formulas is the addition of its proprietary blend of bioactive elements. Each of MRI’s bone and joint products contains a full spectrum of minerals and trace minerals vital to a healthy skeletal system, such as boron (a trace mineral which helps with calcium assimilation), calcium, and magnesium (important for the balance and absorption of calcium).
The third tier of nutritional support found in each of MRI’s bone and joint line are synergistic herbs that have been extensively used in traditional herbal medicine.
The fourth tier of MRI’s bone and joint products are food enzymes. Food enzymes are an important addition to each of MRI’s proprietary formulations—not just its bone and joint products. Enzymes primarily have digestant activity. That is, enzymes are proteins that help break down foods consumed into energy and liberate nutrients that the body can use and/or store. Besides acting as a digestive aid, bromelain and other proteolytic enzymes have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and wound-healing actions.
