Is Anderson's Concentrated Mineral Drops Organic?

 By Matthew T. Anderson

We at Mineral Resources International Inc. (MRI) are often asked if Anderson’s Concentrated Mineral Drops (CMD) is organic. This is a complex question, which involves multiple definitions and aspects of the word organic. To simply give a “yes” or “no” answer may be misleading.

First, we need to be clear about the definition of organic. From a chemistry point of view, what makes a compound organic is the presence of carbon, which usually indicates that at some point the substance had been part of a living organism. The atoms within Anderson’s CMD, excluding water, are in the elemental form, and not in compound form. Therefore, the question of whether Anderson’s CMD is organic or not is not applicable, because by definition something must be a compound, which contains carbon atoms in order to be organic. So, by the strict scientific definition, Anderson’s CMD is not organic, but rather ionic

The other definition of organic can mean a food or food product designed for human consumption that is not produced using synthetic inputs such as chemical fertilizers, pesticides, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical additives. Usually when someone asks this question what they really want to know is first, whether Anderson’s CMD is safe because it is produced using natural methods and second, if Anderson’s CMD can be properly absorbed. The answer to both of these questions is YES!

Anderson’s CMD is produced using only 100 percent natural, raw Great Salt Lake brine. The brine is concentrated and desalinated through a unique solar concentration process that utilizes all four seasons in Utah and takes up to two years to fully maximize the magnesium and other vital trace elements while minimizing water content. No dyes, artificial heat, cold, or other chemicals are used in the process. MRI has Anderson’s CMD tested and verified to be free from any chemical, industrial, or agricultural contaminants. In this sense, Anderson’s CMD is just as natural, pure and safe as produce from any organic farm.

The vital elements and trace elements in Anderson’s CMD are ionic, meaning that each atom is independent and not a part of any complex compounds. Compounds are bound together by positively and negatively charged ions. When an atom becomes disassociated from a compound, that ionic charge is then free to move about. The movement of ions is more commonly known as electricity. Ionic charges are vital to the body’s absorption processes making the ionic form the most bio-available form of all. Metabolism of every cell is dependant on positively and negatively charged ionic elements to pull nutrients in and expel waste out. Ionic elements are, therefore, more bio-available and useful than elements in their organic or other forms.

Don’t be deceived by sellers of mineral supplements that claim that their products are organic.  They falsely imply that the minerals they sell have the same goodness and absorbability as those found in fresh, organically grown produce. Most of these supplements are produced from petrified vegetation, which although technically organic--because they are tightly bound to carbon molecules and may have gone through a life process tens of thousands of years ago--they no longer retain the water-soluble and absorbable qualities of the original fresh vegetation. Petrified organic compounds are not very absorbable at all. Not all that is organic (at least with regard to mineral supplements) is safe and effective. Gasoline and coal are both organic, but certainly not safe for consumption.
